Reading Party Fundraiser

Phil & Lucy Sheils open their home to just thirty attendees for this unique fundraiser supporting ChamberFest’s 22nd Anniversary Season. Hear world-renowned harpist Bridget Kibbey in an intimate and spontaneous musical reading party, joined by co-artistic directors Amy Barston and Audrey Andrist, as well as Katie Lansdale and Chiara Dieguez. The event will be enhanced with wine and light refreshments throughout the evening.

Ever wonder what top musicians do in their free time?  Answer: They play more music, but without preparing it! At beloved “sight-reading parties,” musicians eat, drink, and make merry by spontaneously playing favorite chamber works - not in the concert hall, but at home with friends. This freedom from expectation allows for a rare intimacy, liberty, and magic that can happen only under such circumstances, and also often leads to disarming, joyful laughter plus hilarious, endearing mistakes.  Patrons lucky enough to attend often say this is the most fun evening of all - a glimpse of the performers in their most natural habitat.  We’d tell you what artists are going to play, but even they won’t know until they show up, and that’s what makes it so fun!
