ALE-LEGRO - Pairing Beer with Classical Music: Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm
Program: This year, the Festival will open with a lively concert event featuring delightful chamber music and complimentary free beer tastings at Faircraft Brauhaus in Fairport. Artistic Director Kevin Kumar says Beer Music is a musical tasting celebrating our civilizaiton’s fondness for this ancient fermented beverage. Program: Don’t miss our signature event - sells out every year! Join all the esteemed festival musicians plus celebrated clarinetist Moran Katz for wonderful food and fiery music from around the world. As always, our artistic directors Kevin and Amy will play blazing fiddle music and favorite Appalachian tunes. This event will be held at Casa Larga Vineyards and Winery. CHILDREN'S CONCERT: Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11:00 am
Program: Don’t Let the Pigeon Play the Violin!!! - A free, lively 30 minute musical show for the whole family, with delightful performances by musical artists of the ChamberFest Canandaigua, spear-headed by charismatic co-artist director cellist Amy Barston. FORMAL CONCERT #1: Friday, July 21, 2023 at 7:30 pm. Pre-concert chat at 7:15 pm.
Program: Beethoven's Symphonic Septet and Brahms' Love Song to the Clarinet - Experience the whimsy of a young Beethoven, exploring expressive orchestral landscapes with his game-changing Septet in Eb major. And feel how Brahms, late in life, fell head-over-heels in love with the clarinet; it is ever-apparent in his exquisitely romantic Sonata Op. 120 for clarinet and piano. Program: Festival Finale - As always, our final concert of the season will leave the audience wishing for more. Poetic favorites for solo piano give way to Debussy’s luscious, French sonata for violin and piano, leading to the artists all banding together for Dvorak’s astonishingly Romantic Piano Quartet in E♭.
